The company asked me to tell its “genesis story” in a fun, compelling way—and to make it fit the lid of their flagship 30-piece Truffles box.

Copy: “Building on a Dare to Do Better”

This story begins on a dare, in a Burlington restaurant kitchen in 1983. I owned that restaurant, and at the holidays I always bought fancy chocolates to give out to my staff. Then one Christmas a certain wise man (my pastry chef) took me aside and told me just how bad he thought those chocolates were. So I dared him to do better!

He made a batch of hand-rolled truffles so smooth and creamy, so deep in pure chocolate flavor — just one bite and I knew he was right. Within a year the restaurant was sold, and Lake Champlain Chocolates had been born from a belief in always daring to do better.

It’s a belief that’s guided us for over 25 years, to source only the best ingredients and design chocolates every bit as striking and original as they are flavorful. And it’s you — our customers — who remind us every day why we still dare to do better. Because it matters to you, as much as it matters to us.
